Debra Grant RDH, CA

Debra Grant, RDH, CA continually challenges the profession of dental hygiene through her innovative company, Oraspa, a Dental Spa Consultancy.

Debra is a professional negotiator and has aided in changing the history of dental hygiene as a consultant in the affiliation of the Illinois Dental Hygienists’ Association and the American Federation of Teachers/Illinois Federation of Teachers.

Debra is currently a hygiene member of the Illinois State Board of Dentistry.

Ms. Grant has been an active clinical dental hygienist for 33 years. She has practiced in Boca Raton and Chicago. She is a past president of the Illinois Dental Hygienists’ Association and active in the American Dental Hygienists’ Association.

Her certification in aromatherapy has allowed her to expand the scope of practice in dental hygiene. She is completing her mastership in aromatherapy.

In addition, Debra has been a columnist for RDH magazine entitled, "Mind, Body & Spirit". Other publications include, Woman Dentist Journal, Contemporary Oral Hygiene, and Modern Hygienist and National Aromatherapy and Holistic Association Journal.

Her appearance and interview by NBC Channel 5, Chicago brought national attention to her legislative endeavors at the Illinois’ State Capitol.

Debra’s passion is to move the dental hygiene profession forward by helping to empower other dental professionals and find their own passion through confidence and self awareness.

Danielle Victoriano, RDH, BS, MHS

Danielle is the Product Manager for Scalers & Scaler Accessories, as part of the Dental Hygiene Practitioners team at Hu-Friedy Mfg. Co. In her role, Danielle lends her clinical and educational expertise to development of scaling and sharpening products, as well as supportive materials and presentations for clinicians, educators, and students alike.

Danielle graduated from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center(LSUHSC) with Associate of Science in Dental Hygiene, Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene & Master of Health Sciences degrees in Dental Hygiene with an emphasis in Education.

She served as an Assistant Professor in Clinical Dental Hygiene at LSUHSC Program in Dental Hygiene, as well as the Second Year Clinical Coordinator at Kennedy‐King College / University of Illinois Dental Hygiene Program in Chicago, IL. Her experience includes clinical dental hygiene for the past 14 years, as well as instruction in all areas of dental hygiene with emphasis in instrumentation, instrument design, and sharpening during her 8 years in dental hygiene education.

Danielle has been a member of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA) since 1995, and has served in numerous positions within regional and state chapters in Louisiana and Illinois. Danielle proudly served as an ADHA delegate to state associations for Louisiana & Illinois, as well as a member of the ADHA Council for Association Policy & Bylaws.

Douglas A. Young DDS, MS, MBA

Dr. Young is an active and ardent educator in the field of minimally invasive dentistry, dental materials, and cariology. He serves on several boards and has presented at congresses around the world including the World Clinical Laser Institute, the Academy of Laser Dentistry, the World Congress of Minimal Invasive Dentistry, as well as several universities. Dr. Young has also been published in several peer-reviewed dental journals and textbooks.

In addition to speaking and publishing, Dr. Young also conducts extensive research on minimal invasive dentistry, lasers, and cariology. He has performed clinical trials using lasers, as well as studying caries inhibition by laser irradiation, and optical caries detection technologies.

Dr. Young is an Associate Professor, University of the Pacific and is also an Associate Clinical Professor, Adjunct, at the University of California- San Francisco.

Dr Young also has an AB in Bacteriology from the University of California, Berkeley, a DDS from the University of California, San Francisco, a MBA from the University of the Pacific, Stockton, and a MS in Oral Biology from the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Young completed a General Practice Residency at the VA Hospital, San Francisco in 1982. He decided to pursue full time teaching after 15 years of successful private practice in California. He is currently active in teaching clinical dentistry to the students at Pacific and research at UCSF.

Dr. Peter Jacobsen lectures extensively in Dental Pharmacology as well as Over-the Counter Dental Drugs and Products. He also presents on the topic of the Dental Management of Medically Complex patients. His information is practical and clinically relevant for dentists as well as dental hygienists. Dr. Jacobsen has a national reputation for being very entertaining, making his presentations lively and enjoyable.


Dr. Jacobsen’s Ph.D. is in Comparative Pharmacology and Toxicology and he directed the Oral Medicine Clinic at the University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry for over 25 years. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Medicine and past Chairperson of the Council on Dental Therapeutics of the ADA. Eight years in a row he has been named as one of the, Leaders in Continuing Education, by Dentistry Today magazine. He also received the 1999 Gordon J. Christensen Lecturer Recognition Award. He writes the Dental Drug Booklet, a succinct handout and reference on commonly prescribed dental medications.
